Service Learning in College of Management

In addition to collaborating with the University to conduct service learning projects in courses of Introduction to Study in the University and Philosophy of Life, each department in FJCU College of Management also launches their professional service learning projects to help students learn by doing to reinforce their professional knowledge. The professional service learning courses are developed to incorporate ideas of social enterprises which demonstrates the characteristics of College of Management to integrate professional skills and social care.

Domestic Service Learning Projects:
Students work with domestic social enterprises and non-profit organizations to design service learning action items and solicit the College of Management students to employ what they have learned to conduct social improvement plans; and promote social justice and innovation activities.

International Service Learning Projects:
Students form groups to participate in international service learning projects. This leads the students to be aware of the relations between Taiwan and the neighboring countries and help them accumulate professional knowledge and skills for social innovation.

Overseas Service Learning Union
The Overseas Service Learning Union (OSL Union) was established under the Fu Jen Catholic University Service Learning Center in 2010. It’s a student autonomous learning platform which works closely with overseas groups of Service Learning Center to build a communication platform among different service learning groups. Through training workshops and common activities to maximize the benefits of resources from each group. It assists service learning groups to go abroad, apply for possible internal and external subsidy, and organize training workshops and collective presentations after all groups return to Fu Jen. Therefore, each group can fully complete their learning journey and sustain the efforts they have worked on each specific site. The Union forms a family-like relation and promotes cooperation among members and the groups. The long term goal of the Union is to establish a “Service Learning Area Community” to make the sites that students are working with to exchange resources and create more opportunities.
